What’s The Story?

Adam Sandler is at it again, this time as Zohan, an Israeli counterterrorist killing machine. In between lobbing grenades and leaping from buildings, Zohan decides that what he’d really like to be doing is cutting hair. To escape his day job, he fakes his own death and books it to New York City, where a some “extra special treatment” for his clientele in the back room catapults him to fame and fortune. Unfortunately, success and secret identities don’t mix, and his past begins to catch up with him.

Bet you didn’t know

In his youth, Vidal Sassoon was the member of The 43 Group, a street-fighting anti-fascist force set up by Jewish veterans after World War II. Later he fought for Israeli independence before settling down to become a household name in hairdressing.

The Incredible Hulk(2008)

Whats the story?

What began as a sequel has become a complete do-over for our not-so-jolly green giant. This time around, Bruce Banner is on the run from General Thunderbolt Ross as he desperately searches for an antidote to the gamma radiation that has given new meaning to “anger issues.” As if it’s not bad enough that his ultra-ripped bod is designated official military property, a new nemesis emerges! When Emil Blonsky toys with the power that has made Banner into the Hulk, it transforms him into a true abomination.

Bet you didn’t know

Kenneth Johnson, the creator of the “Incredible Hulk” TV series, keeps a list on his website of everything that made Banner angry enough to turn into the Hulk. These include: being bit by a dog, getting a speeding ticket, eating poisoned sushi, and getting thrown under a Mardi Gras parade float by a guy in a gorilla suit.

The Happening (2008)

Whats the Story?

Elliot Moore is an underappreciated schoolteacher whose marriage is on the rocks. But nothing helps you forget your worries like a sudden global apocalypse! When people begin dying en masse, rumors fly about terrorist attacks or botched government experiments, but soon it becomes obvious that even the government couldn’t botch things this badly. Confused and terrified, with their links to the rest of the world rapidly vanishing, Elliot and his family must go on the run in what is fast becoming a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Bet you didn’t know

This is the second film to be titled The Happening. The first was a 1967 social commentary about Middle American values that for some reason didn’t do so well in Middle America. It did however spawn a hit single by the same title for The Supremes.

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay(2008)

Harold and Kumar are in their apartment after they’ve successfully completed their White Castle quest. It’s only an hour or two later, and the guys are preparing for an epic adventure to Amsterdam so that Harold can win the heart of his crush, Maria. At the airport, Kumar runs into his ex-girlfriend, Vanessa, and he’s shocked to discover she’s about to get married. Before they even get on the plane, Kumar threatens to botch the mission by mixing it up with airport security personnel, insisting on protesting a random search. Though they do make it onto the plane, Kumar eventually succeeds in getting them into more trouble than they bargained for. Unable to wait six hours to get to Amsterdam, Kumar takes a home-made “smokeless bong” into the airplane bathroom. Turbulence strikes, the bathroom door swings open, the bong’s mistaken for a bomb, and the guys are mistaken for terrorists. The plane is turned around and the guys are detained in Guantanamo Bay.

Speed Racer 2008

With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie, Speed teams with his one-time rival – the mysterious Racer X – to win the race that had taken his brother’s life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.
